As many of you know, the Walk for the Arts forms came home last week, which means your child can begin asking for donations.
Please note: additional donation sheets will be available in the main office, however any donation can be made online here.
The Walk for the Arts fundraiser is a Walk-A-Thon that allows participants and donators to help raise money in support of the Arts in Education Fund. The Arts in Education Fund is responsible for Charlton Heights PTA sponsored programs, for example the Scotia-Glenville Traveling Museum for kindergarten and all grades, and the Go Kennel Racing Sled Dogs for second graders, amongst many other amazing programs.
In order for Charlton Heights to have amazing programs for our children and our students, the Walk for the Arts Walk-A-Thon is necessary.
We encourage students to help raise money for the Arts in Education Fund by asking family, friends, and neighbors to give donations. Participating in the fundraising aspect of the event is optional, but all students will participate in the walk, which promotes the importance of exercise and good health.
Any adult who would like to participate are welcome to walk with their child and/or collect donations.
During the Walk-A-Thon, fruit and water will be available for the children. We encourage everyone to dress comfortably and wear the appropriate shoes.
We will notify parents of the walking schedule, as well as any rain or extreme heat dates as the event drawers near.
Students should not bring portable music devices for walk.
As an incentive, each student who raises the minimum of $20 will receive a raffle ticket to be entered to win a prize. There will be a winner from each grade level. For every additional $10 they raise, another ticket will be entered into the raffle. We will also be throwing a pizza party to the class with the most participation.
So get your walking shoes reading! We are looking forward to joining you in fundraising for our children’s art education, and we will see you at the Walk-A-Thon!
