On Friday, October 17th Charlton Heights will once again hold a Walk-A-Thon to help raise money for the Arts in Education Fund. All proceeds from our “Walk For The Arts” will enable CH PTA to sponsor programs such as:
CHRIS HOLDER – 5 DAY RESIDENCY (5TH GRADE)
ELLEN SINOPOLI – 5 DAY RESIDENCY (4TH GRADE)
MOTOKO – 5 DAY RESIDENCY (3RD GRADE)
GO KENNEL RACING SLED DOGS (2ND GRADE)
DAYS GONE BY (1ST GRADE)
SCOTIA-GLENVILLE TRAVELING MUSEUM ( KINDERGARTEN & ALL GRADES)
In order to make programs such as these possible, we need to make certain that our “Walk For The Arts” is a huge success! This will be our most important fundraiser of the year and will take the place of previous fundraising programs that will benefit all our students and has the added bonus of promoting the importance of exercise and good health!
We are encouraging students to help raise funds by asking family, friends and neighbors to give donations. Participation in the fundraising aspect of the event is optional, but all students will participate in the walk. Any adults who would like to participate are welcome to walk with their child and/or collect donations. Additional donation sheets will be available in the main office.
As an incentive, each student who raises the minimum of $20 will receive a raffle ticket to be entered into a raffle to win a prize. There will be a winner from each grade level. For every additional $10 they raise another ticket will be added (so the more money they collect, the better chance they have of winning)! We will also be giving a pizza party to the class with the most participation. This year’s top earner out of all the grade levels will receive a grand prize!
If your child wishes to collect donations he/she can use the attached forms (cash or checks acceptable). New this year, you may donate online! If you wish to donate online please Click Here. Please fill out the required fields under Walk For Arts and hit buy now. Your child can bring their donations into their teacher attached to one of the donation slips on a daily basis starting this week, Sept. 15th. Donations will be sent to the main office and we will announce each class ranking at the end of each week until October 20th. Just as there was last year, there will be a “thermometer” displayed in the school that visually lets the children know how well their class is doing. All checks should be made payable to Charlton Heights PTA. All donations should be returned on or before October 20th.
We will have water and fruit for the children and all are encouraged to dress comfortably and wear appropriate shoes. We will notify parents of the walking schedule and any rain/extreme heat dates as the event draws nearer. Students should not bring portable music devices for the walk.
Thank you in advance for your continued support!
