How to Become a Member of the PTA
Please accept our invitation to join and become a partner in education. CHES PTA membership supports our programs and the statewide work of the PTA. Typically, our PTA hosts a membership drive in September in which you submit your membership form and payment to the Membership committee via your child’s homeroom parent. If you miss that opportunity or become new to our school mid-year and want to become a PTA member, you can join September – April by filling out a PTA Membership form and submitting your payment to the Membership chair. Please be sure to renew your PTA membership each school year.
SO MANY WAYS TO VOLUNTEER
There are so many ways to volunteer at CHES. The PTA offers all parents the opportunity to get involved as little or as much as you want. Check out the list of PTA programs Programs from A to L or Programs from M to Z. Then just let the PTA board know that you have some time or talent to share. Be sure to ask the PTA board about PTA office vacancies too!
Every volunteer is appreciated by the teachers, staff and children, whether you are in the classroom once a week, once a year or even if you can only help out at home. The following volunteer guidelines will help you and the school personnel get the most out of our volunteer organization.
We recognize that most of you live a busy family lifestyle. But please know that when we all lend a hand to spread out the workload, we can accomplish an awful lot! The National PTA has challenged parents to volunteer just 3 hours of their time over the course of the school year to help out the PTA in their Three for Me program. Send us an email today to let us know how you would like to get involved, firstname.lastname@example.org.
Helpful Guidelines for all Volunteers Visiting the School
You are encouraged to visit the Charlton Heights Volunteer Handbook provided by the school district, click here to view the CH Volunteer Handbook. Here are some general guidelines to follow:
When volunteering in the school building during school hours, please bring a photo ID to the main office. You will be issued a Visitor Pass to go to the area that you are volunteering for. You will check out by giving your sticker pass to the main office staff.
Please respect confidentiality issues and be respectful of each child’s, and each family’s privacy. Please be careful to act professionally and to not discuss PTA issues, problems or concerns in public areas (i.e. the lobby, the front office, etc.) as these discussion should occur in an appropriate setting. Remember that PTA exists to promote the welfare of all children and youth and to enhance their educational experience—don’t lose sight of our purpose!
